Lyrical Warfare – Truth Be Told!!

First it was Biggie Smalls vs Makaveli then the classic Nas vs Jay-z and more recently we’ve seen 50 cent vs the whole hiphop industry war, but rap beefs have been going on since the days of BDP vs The Juice Crew. Hiphop is not the only music genre full of competition, dancehall reggae music has had its own notorious beefs like the Bounty Killer vs Beenie Man beef and the old clashes between Super Cat, Ninja Man & Shabba. I think personally competition in any music genre is needed from time to time, plus the fact that it makes for good conversation.50-cent-vs-rick-ross-beef

Recently I was asked by a fellow blogger my thoughts on the Rick Ross vs 50cent beef. My response was simply ” The Boss”!! ‘Deeper than Rap’ in my eyes is Hiphops Album of The Year hands down for ’09’ so far..  “5o” won the Internet war but lyrically I have to say the “Boss”.

Now there seems  to be an even bigger war brewing on the island of Jamaica. “GAZA” vs “GULLY”, now for those that may not know that’s between the two artist known as Mavado(Gully) & Vybz Kartel(Gaza).mavvybz1

Now personally again this is just my view, lyrically Kartel is better hands down but when it comes down to song making ability with melodies, hooks etc Mavado is better. Another reason I give the momentum to Mavado because he has the backing of the “Warlord” himself Bounty Killer. The Warlord or Ground God as he goes by nowadays has brought out some of JA’s biggest upcoming artist including both Mavado & even Kartel but some say things turned sour between Kartel & the Warlord when Kartel refused to pick sides between Killer & Killer’s true rival Beenie Man. So eventually Kartel created his own crew “Gaza” & Mavado did the same “Gully”.

Now I created this blog to see the different opinions people have on these topics, tell me what you think on the 5o cent vs Rick Ross feud…If you say Gaza or if you say Gully tell me why?? If you think the feuding should stop or is bad for the industry express your feelings….

Also if you wanna know more about Mavado take a look @ this interview here.

Ok… Have you ever heard the term “FRIENEMY” Obviously 50 and Rick are two smart bussiness men. You have to be an idiot if you did not ponder the thought that these two cats fuel public squabble for sales. From my perspective … I have the utmost respect for both because I know that they know how to play the market and still come out on top. There are more uneducated individuals out there than those with education and they make their serious $$$$ off that segment of the population that is uneducated and breeds off Jerry Springer and Tyra and so forth… These cats have it all planned out therefore I take my hat off to them both. Ya cant hate the playaz because they play the game very well!

Ignorance..Didnt you see what happen to Pac & Big, I guess knowbody cares. Everybody wanna be Scarface, Carlito, or R.Porter but dont knowbody want the same ending…….I think we need to ban all this type of music that insights violence from the radio & music channels. They all claim to be killing this & shooting that but most people should know that they really aint killin shit!!I Hope & Pray Something Is done About This Before Its Too Late!!

  7. As long as everybody understands it’s just music and entertainment then it’s all good. Don’t go hating on each other because artists are warring lyrically, just enjoy the lyrical warfare on a musical level.

Big up whether you say Gully or Gaza, or Ross or 50.

Kartel is still the wickedest dj compared to mavado, rick ross or 50 cent.
